I liked it just as well the first time

I think the opening is a great way to catch your audience off guard. I like how you demonstrate something special about them but you hold off the explanation for the actual episode. The effects were innovative and memorizing. I really started to like what I was seeing from start to finish. Your characters are quite transparent not flat which makes them more complicated and will help you really make your audience love their performance.

Hope to see episode 2 and not 1 for the second time.

thats for the very arty review. and thanks for liking the intro. That intro is the only one of its kind. We've planned this series to be like a movie If you played each episode one after another.
There still will be an opening credits per episode. Just not like that. More of the credits rolling as the episode is playing ;)

An ode to a my favorite MM character

It reminded me of a Jonny Cash Ballad. Many great angles were used. Sprites were customized and not just borrowed. It was very touching and easy to follow for any Protoman enthusiast.

Thank you for noticing. I spent many a long night drawing beards!

Understanding of the video game not required

The drawings were good and the comedy random I felt helped make it more funny. It reminds me of 30 second bunnies from Stars. The voice acting though good showed your weakness for listening and editing. I could obviously here the popping in and out of the microphone which could easily be cut out using audacity. Nobody wants to here pops because it makes the piece seem fragmented rather than fluidly animated.

Galneda responds:

That's an excellent point, and it only further pushes me in the direction in getting better equipment for future projects. I noticed the problems, and I did what I could editing the channels on a lot of the wav files...you should've heard it BEFORE I edited some of that stuff out...

But, in hindsight, that was only the loud changes...I should've edited out the more subtle pops as well.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review this, I also never thought of ZOA in the same-light as the 30-second bunnies, but I take that comparison as a compliment! Thanks again!

Nice one Ansel

I have known of Luis's prowess on newgrounds and his preference for mouse versus global position based mousing since his clockday submission of 2006. He is correct that one can make great pieces without a tablet. I did stuff like his when I was 13 in the early days of paint on the macs..

Zachary responds:

Glad you liked it

Not bad...quite entertaining

I really was somewhat impressed. I almost was disappointed by the Naruto pieces until I noticed the nice little hand movement cut scene. Oh, the Avatar is not Anime. It follows the Disney phonetic mouth style which makes it American style. Just because it includes Asian culture does not make it anime. It has to be the style of art used.

ssjbryando responds:

Yea I know avatar is not anime, but because kensei's entry was one of the best, I still allowed it.

Still a master of fight and music

I was amazed at how much control you have over the music and your animations. I love you style since I first saw your Kung fu. I would not say to add anything to this because you have such a well developed style. I hope to see more of your work in the future and keep up your passion its eclectic.

DannyP responds:

Awesome, someone who's seen something else I've made. I always thought my submissions were lost in a sea of genius and crap, never to be seen again after judgement day... I should get a tablet so I can make something really impressive. Well, thanks for the review :P

A very simple yet quaint piece

The drawings were fantastic and the 3-d in two dimensions worked very well. I lived the combination of animation with song. I also noticed the hands on the instrument seemed quite synchronized well too.

AKS9 responds:

thanks alot man! quaint is an adjective I never expected I'd get so im glad about that heheh
synchronizing the hands was really hard actually even though it would seem kinda simple, so its cool you noticed :D

I have two uncles who complain about it every year

This is 100% correct. The industry starts this about November 1st and true it does not end officially till December 26 or in some crazy places January 1st. We recently were at the Macaroni grill and all the employees agreed with my two uncles. We actually got them to play Italian music instead while we were there. What makes me laugh is they played opera which my uncles also despise. I love it because I get a kick out of it.

The animation was okay but I would have expected to see some hair pulling and a little insane head banging by week 2 or 3. Not just the annoyed expression. You could have even had conversations about it with the customers who really are just as annoyed.

DPSGryph responds:

I think it's awesome that they were ALLOWED to change the music. Most places, that's taboo.

The terrible thing about most public-service industries is that you can't show negative emotion. No running around the store screaming at the top of your lungs... No blowing raspberries at indignant customers... Nothing like that... I don't get it. Anyway, I chose to keep it down to simple facial expressions instead of exaggerated acrobatics.

great improvement

I really like how you ended part 1 this time. It was much more satisfactory to stop here. Given the fact the fight scene was so short, your choice to end it with the more powerful sorcerer and the battle over transitions well for part 2. Looking forward to your sequel.

in the EP 2, is much text, for more styri, and 1 batle ecene, is my idea

You've got me hooked

The animated style was enough but when you add Edwyn, I am sure to watch it from the first episode. I am always impressed with his work since Xin. A wonderful array of characters and animated style. I also love how some of the comedy is based on the characters understanding they are in a flash episode.

akoRn responds:

Actually. Edwyn's role came into the movie on the 3rd episode. But feel free to watch all of them. LOL. He's a real talent, huh?

Thx for all the statement above! ^_^

I have a great deal of experiance with video, animation and am a software engineer by hobby. I also have helped 6th graders in an after school program make a 20 minute short and their own animations using Appleworks.
